Do my files get uploaded?
No. File contents stay on your device for both inspection and cleaning. Account and usage requests use the network, but do not include your file contents, names or findings.
Can I remove Content Credentials with the C2PA remover?
MetadataRemover.cc can remove supported C2PA records stored inside a file. Content Credentials describe its origin and editing history. Removing the embedded record does not remove copies held elsewhere or watermarks embedded in the content.
Will cleaning lower photo, video or audio quality?
The tool does not re-encode pixels or media samples. It removes supported file metadata and saves a separate copy. Metadata can affect how software interprets a file, so preview the result and keep your original.
Can it remove Instagram AI labels or prove my work is original?
No guarantee. This tool changes supported data inside your file, not a platform's decisions or labels on an existing post. It does not certify authorship, pass originality checks or bypass AI detectors.
What about hidden characters in copied ChatGPT text?
Copied text can contain unwanted spacing or invisible characters, whatever its source. MetadataRemover.cc reports supported characters before cleaning. Their presence is not proof of AI authorship, and removing them does not make writing undetectable.
Does it remove SynthID, visible logos or stock-photo watermarks?
No. Those are not ordinary file metadata. MetadataRemover.cc does not erase visible overlays or detect and remove watermarks embedded in pixels, sound or generated text.

Supported image, audio, video and text formats are listed above. Each file can be up to 64 MiB. PDF and Office documents are not supported, and the tool is not a format converter.
How can I remove metadata from a photo on my phone?
Open MetadataRemover.cc in your phone's browser, choose a supported photo and inspect it. Review the findings, clean a copy, then download and preview that copy before sharing it. No app installation or file upload is needed; the original stays unchanged.
Does taking a screenshot remove metadata?
A screenshot is a new file, not a verification that metadata is gone. Check the actual file you plan to share. MetadataRemover.cc lists the supported metadata it finds and checks the cleaned copy again; that result does not cover visible details or embedded watermarks.
